Papillon Malade

Kareen Adam is a Maldivian-Australian artist whose practice explores transitions, cultural identity, and the juncture between the local and the visitor. This drawing was made while the artist was undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer, finding a strange, compelling beauty in the medical imaging that accompanied her diagnosis.
