Peter Breen’s years in medical imaging strongly influence his palette. His early drawings as an emerging artist [ 2010] referenced that world in the works “The Space Between” and “Leg Xray”. While new experiments over the past 10 years have seen little change in his monochrome palette, his use of ageing non-archival encyclopaedia pages are partly influenced by his philosophy around the fragility of life and the never-ending place of text in his evolving world views. Working back into this medium brings a validity to his story, observations and responses to experiencing and the at times overwhelming climate crisis which, in its potential horror will never, in his view, eliminate beauty.
