My practice is heavily influenced by my interests in psychology and sociology. Using photography, video, sound and sculpture, I explore concepts of identity and belonging and have focused on a number of social issues such as LGBTQI+ rights, racism, mental health awareness, and the refugee crisis.
The Clearing represents my ongoing battle with depression and anxiety and journey to find a better place in my mind. Wandering through a dark and distorted forest and seeing a light in the distance, however, in this case the light is an ocean. While it might look inviting in contrast to the darkness, there is still a sense of further instability and an uncertainty of what might happen on the other side.
