Description
To create Seasons and Colours, Venus and John (Mt Glorious), Renata Buziak uses an experimental photographic process that she developed and called the biochrome. This process fuses plant samples and photographic emulsions over a period of time, allowing organic decomposition to transform both materials into new, abstract, yet often accurately depicted, images of plants.
“When there’s so much in bloom, the magnolias or the peaches, and that happens once a year, with spring coming through… it’s such a joy. It is my outdoor vase of flowers, my outdoor flower arrangement that nature has done, that I don’t have to chop down, that just takes care of itself. It’s absolutely beautiful, so I appreciate that about our garden.” – Venus
“The lemon tree, down the bottom level. I have two chairs. That’s where I go and sit, and that’s my meditation, in a lot of ways. And I just sit under the lemon tree and it reminds me of Lawrence Durrell ‘Bitter Lemons of Cyprus.’ We went to Cyprus and I found the bitter lemon tree up at the Abbey in Cyprus that he used to live by. And I call this Bitter Lemons of Mt. Glorious.” – John
