Latin for New Scotland, Nova Scotia is one of the maritime provinces of Canada. I spent a month there over the new year. The night I took this image we had been watching the bushfires burning at home in Australia on the news. I went outside and this scene of my friend’s driveway was so mundane but suddenly so inviting. The cold, wintry rain that Australians at home could only wish for at the time.
